We pioneered the gas grills design in 1954. Louis’ son, Don Sr., was the first to adapt the use of a 20lb. propane cylinder to outdoor gas grills. The first portable gas grills and stationary gas grills for outdoor residentrial use were made by Chicago combustion in 1955-56. In the sixties, sales of outdoor gas grills really took off. During this gas grills expansion period we were producing as many as 35,000 gas grills per year in our factory in Belvidere, New Jersey. Now gas grills are a household necessity.
